Description

Trout fishing, hiking, birding, golf, bowls, river swimming & tubing, mountain bike cycling or relaxing in our beautiful English Gardens are all offered at Glengarry. One and two bedroomed thatch cottages fully equipped with indoor fireplaces and verandah braai areas. Kitchens are open plan with diningroom & lounge - microwaves, fridges, crockery and cutlery all provided. Bring own kitchen linen and towels. Glengarry is one of those rare, much sought after havens with crisp climates and brisk clean mountain air. The Ukhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Park offers wonderful views and is accessible from Highmoor Reserve 11 kilometres away. A 9 hole golf course awaits the sportsmen -low handicap players find it particularly challenging. Four holes are par 4's and the remaining 5 are par 3's. The longest hole is 300 metres and the course is designed around trout dams and the Little Mooi River. Family members are able to watch through binoculars from the chalet verandahs! Our stocked dam - Plum Dam is open all year round. We stock this dam with rainbow trout from Bushmans River Trout farm regularly and many budding trout fisherman have caught their first trout here! The Little Mooi River provides wild brown trout in the summer months. Trout flies are available from our office shop. Cyclists have an opportunity to cycle on quiet rural roads and hilly tracks. A botanists delight - grassy hills and veld hiding hundreds of wild flowers and birdlife that keeps birders twitching for hours. Glengarry has a conference centre - ideal for small weddings which are fully catered for. We have colourful ever flowering English country gardens open to the public in Spring. Freshly baked rolls and breads are procuced in our cottage bakery. All food served to our guests is prepared in our kitchens using best quality fresh meat and home grown herbs. Cakes, muffins and puddings are our speciality. Our new take away "Simply Real Food" will soon be available to guests - orders in by 5pm and collect your meal at 6pm. Eat good real food in the comfort of your chalets or campsite. Burgers, bobotie, thai chicken curries and spaghetti bolognaise are some of the favourites on the menu. "Simply Real Food" has been requested by many guests wanting our food usually only prepared for functions. Bushmans paintings at the Kamberg Nature Reserve nearby are popular with foreigners especially.

- What a wonderful few days we spent with you - just sent an e.mail to Marge saying she couldn't have chosen a better venue to celebrate the 75th aniversary of the Ramblers Club. At this stage of our lives driving has become less of a pleasure than it was and it's great to find somewhere not too far from home [Scottburgh] where the peace and tranquiity almost outdid the magnificent scenery. Thanks to all of you for making our short stay such a pleasureable one and we hope to visit again in the not too distant future [expect we'll wait for warmer weather, although we had marvellous weather. With kind regards and all the best Kath and Ken Arthur
