DescriptionSycamore Avenue Treehouses are situated at Hidcote, between Mooi River and Estcourt, within sight of the Drakensberg. We have five eccentric and romantic ‘Treehouses’; all are made by hand from local woods by the ingenious sculptor Bruce Attwood. Each charming Treehouse is private and out of sight of the others with its own Jacuzzi-Spa bath, shower and fireplace nestled into the trees. We are members of the Midlands Meander, which has approximately 150 various shops, galleries, cheese makers, potters, wood turners, weavers and (if you choose not to dine with us) restaurants. The Weenen Game Reserve is nearby, and a picnic lunch eaten under a large wild fig tree is popular. The Bushman paintings at Kamberg are some of the finest in the Drakensberg and provide a 90 minute walk for the active and adventurous. Horse riding in the foothills of the Drakensberg can also be arranged. The magnificent Giants Castle, where you can learn of the Bushmen, visit a Vulture Hide and take spectacular trails is also a short drive away. The Romantic Treehouse is built into a large pin oak tree and has a Jacuzzi, shower, fireplace and a deck; complete with hammock; in the tree. There is also a small veranda facing Giant’s Castle. The Fantasy Treehouse has a lounge with fireplace below a children’s bedroom. The main bedroom is on the third floor and has a scenic shower. There are Drakensberg views from all the rooms, including the Jacuzzi (Spa in the Sky) in its own separate water tower. The Bottle Treehouse a bottle theme is used throughout, in walls, windows, light fittings, carpets and bedspreads. The Jacuzzi is in the main bedroom and the indoor/outdoor shower is out on the deck. The lower level is a cosy lounge. The Planequarium has two double bedrooms upstairs, a lounge with fireplace and provision for two children in a bunk bed. The theme is stars, planets and fish. The doors, walls and windows are decorated with sculpted fish and seaweeds, headboards are smattered with stars and fish. This accommodation is suitable for famlies and the only Treehouse with TV (SABC) Pegasus: the latest addition to our Treehouse family has an equestrian theme. Including an original painting of the White Horse with wings and a golden bridle, that inspired poets; a wooden inlay of horse heads in the floor and ceiling. Hand made quilt with the theme of horse on the bed. Each Treehouse is situated in a secluded spot on our 50 acre estate, where you can take a stroll among the horses, enjoy our English Country Garden or simply relax and while away the day in a hammock, in a tree, away from it all. LUXURY GARDEN SUITE -(not a Treehouse)- Should you like your feet on the ground then the Garden Suite has everything & more that the Treehouse have. Two rooms, inter-leading door to a small room which has a single bed with pull out bed. All hand crafted furniture. Full bathroom with Jacuzzi Spa Bath, large shower and separate toilet. French doors which lead on to its own private patio, TV in the main room, fridge in the room.
GUESTHOUSE - (not a Treehouse)- King sized bed in a large room with own private entrance to the garden and en suite shower.
