Description

Meshlynn Fishing Cottage offers self catering accommodation for up to seven people. Meshlynn Farm is 40 Km's from Mooi River, with tar road all the way. Travelling time from Johannesburg is about 4hrs 30 mins, and about 2hrs from Durban. The cottage is spotlessly clean. Fresh flowers are arranged and make the lounge look warm and inviting. The kitchen is fully equipped (including microwave oven), and in the lounge, a colour TV and log fire place. Complimentary fresh farm butter and milk is placed in the fridge. Wood is provided free. There is no limit on the amount of wood you use for the braai/bbq or fire in the lounge. Linen and blankets are provided but not bath towels. There are two bathrooms. One has a shower and toilet, the other a bath and toilet. A maid service is available at an extra cost of R35 per day or part thereof. This needs to be arrange before you arrive.

Outside there are braai/bbq facilities with a lovely view of the Kamberg mountain and surrounding farm lands. Tours of the farm can be arranged, and in Winter (May to September), the added bonus of game drives on the higher lying areas of the farm. Eland and Mountain Reedbuck are a common sight in the late afternoon/early evening. This too needs to be pre-booked.

There are seven large, well stocked dams available for you to fish. Fishing is restricted to residents of the cottage, no day fishermen allowed. The only exception is for friends of people staying in the cottage. There is still a charge per rod.

The charge per rod is R60 per day and the bag limit is 2 trout per rod per day. There is no charge per KG over and above the rod fee. Visitors can fish at a cost of R80 per rod per day.

The use of small boats and float tubes is allowed on the dams. Boats located at the dams are not for general use.

Directions

From Jo'burg Come down the N3 and get off the highway at the main Mooi River Toll plaza. Cross over the highway (towards the Wimpy) and then turn left towards Nottingham Road. Drive for about 10 km's and you will come to Rosetta. In Rosetta, turn right towards Kamberg. From Durban Coming up the N3, take to Mount West/Nottingham Road turn off. This is before the toll plaza and follows the alternative route. Turn right towards Nottingham Road. After about 10 km's you will come to Nottingham Road. Stay on the alternative route and go through Nottingham road and a further 10 km's on you will come to Rosetta. Turn Left towards Kamberg. From the Rosetta turn: Follow this road for approx. 26 km's and you should then pass a trading store on the left and Meshlynn farm is about another 3 or 4 km's along on the left hand side. There is a signpost... Once on the farm, drive down the avenue of trees and turn left at the T-junction. This will be the first dirt road you will come to. Follow this road over the first ridge and then just over the top of the second ridge on the left hand side is the cottage. Be careful not to turn too soon as you will end up in the shed and it is not as comfortable!!!
