Description

George Curry married Sarah Rudd at Fort Beaufort in 1845. George and Sarah had 4 children, 3 boys and a girl. Their sons were George, Alfred and Frank, their daughter Mary Ann. In 1896, at the age of 71 George Curry had 20 grandchildren.

In 1866 the The Curry Family moved to Currys Post, then known as Thomasville. George Curry established a Staging Post midway along the road at Houtboschrand and his enterprise became Currys Post.

George Curry's house (The Coach House) is where he lived with his family while building two hotels and a church.
The Prince Imperial and Lord Baden-Powell are but a few of the well known names from yester-year who stayed in this old house.
