Description

Hillhouse Accommodation has sweeping views of Midmar dam and the idyllic Midlands countryside. It is a perfect venue for large groups, sleeping up to 12 people. We are situated in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands on a farm within the Dargle Valley Conservancy, just 6kms from the N3. There is plenty of space, all the necessary comforts, and lots of style.

There are two self catering houses available:
Hillhouse - sleeping up to 12 people, this is a perfect venue for large groups of family and friends. The converted farm shed is the most unusual, and welcoming venue and its open plan design lends itself to a myriad of adventures!

Lakehouse – sleeps 4 people, and has the most magnificent open view. The lounge/diningroom opens up onto the veranda which wraps around the house. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom.

Both houses are private, they have a fully equipped kitchen, and an open fireplace with ample wood provided. There are also extra heaters for cold winter nights. We also provide fine cotton bed linen and bath towels. You may request servicing of your house.
There are braai (barbeque) facilities available.
Our farm is 3 kms from Midmar Dam where one can fish, sail and water ski. Midmar Mile swimmers and other sporting visitors will find this an ideally convenient location. We are also well situated to access many of the Midlands schools.
There are beautiful walks on the rolling hills and forests of our farm. View buck, bird-life and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The 70 hectare farm has ideal cycling terrain.
Being in the heart of the Midlands, there are plenty of places to visit and thing to do- one can retreat, relax and unwind or tour the midlands and enjoy all the activities available in the area.
Hillhouse is ideal for weddings, conferences, workshops, or simply a big celebration.
We are wheelchair friendly, and allow well mannered pets to accompany you.

Rates

Adults R220.00 per person per night sharing, self catering.
Children 2-12 years of age R150.00 pcpn
Babies under 2 years free of charge.
Pets are also free of charge.

Directions

Directions to Hillhouse (from Dbn) Take the Howick/Midmar offramp off the N3. Follow directions to Midmar Dam and pass the entrance. Just after the Fernhill Hotel, turn left onto the Petrus Stroom road. Travel for 4 kms then turn left at Farm No. 7 - Crooks - Hillhouse. Follow the road up the hill for 2 kms enjoy the view of the dam turn right at the " Hillhouse" sign. Follow the top road to the end to Hillhouse. Directions to Hillhouse (from Jhb) Take the Howick/Midmar offramp off the N3. Follow directions to Midmar Dam. Just before the Fernhill Hotel, turn right onto the Petrus Stroom road. Travel for 4 kms then turn left at Farm No. 7 - Crooks - Hillhouse. Follow the road up the hill for 2 kms enjoy the view of the dam turn right at the " Hillhouse" sign. Follow the top road to the end to Hillhouse. PLEASE TAKE NOTE – the last 6 kms are dirt road. The first 4 kms of the dirt being a wide well used road. The last two kms the road becomes a small farm road.
