This is definitely a place to relax and refresh, if you enjoy the place a bit away from the city centre. ‘Phola’ is a zulu phrase depicting the relaxation and refreshing or just chilling out mood. This cool place is a gateway to the Hilton and Midlands Meander. We offer stunning views overlooking the beautiful City of Choice; Pietermaritzburg, blossoming during the day and sparkling at night. We are very close to the National Botanic Gardens, which boasts of various trees and flowers, including the 100 years old trees. Our place is overlooking the greens, which one can enjoy looking at all day long, while feeling the fresh air in our sun deck.

From DBN to BLACKRIDGE - From N3 take left at Alan Paton Avenue - Pass Scottsville Mall, continue driving and - pass Shell garage on your left - Continue on the same road until you - Join Chief Albert Luthuli St, drive down that road until you reach Victoria St. - Turn left on Victoria Rd, - pass Pick and Pay Centre. - Drive straight until you reach the last sets of robots that joins Mayors Walk Rd - Turn right at the robots and continue driving on the same road, - Pass SPAR Shopping Centre on your left - Pass Presbury Police station and continue driving - Continue with that road pass Umsunduzi Hospice, the rd will change to Mbubu Rd at the curve. - Pass Sunnyside Homes and drive straight up the road. - Pass Lynpark high school on your right. - Continue driving and on the bridge in Upland Rd, turn left, there is also Blackridge sign board and Phola B&B sign. - Keep to your left at the circle and continue with your left. - Pass Mdoni Place, the road will be a bit winding. - Turn left in Cheviot Way, Phola B&B is on your left, no 6. From JHB - From N3 take left in Peter Brown Drive and turn right at the T- junction. - Drive straight towards the City at the Traffic Circle, - Pass Royal Showgrounds on your left Drive until you reach Victoria Rd. - Turn right in Victoria Road and proceed driving with that road. - Proceed as per bullet 5 on the direction above.
