Set in the heart of Kwazulu Natal Midlands, Balgowan. Stunning views over the Caversham Valley - wake up to mist covered hills and the sound of bird calls.

Irish Mist Estate is a family run business and we have been here for over five years. We offer excellent self-catering accomodation, with a choice of two options to suit any budget.

Our cottages are evenly spaced for optimum privacy and to take advantage of the views. Set in beautiful gardens. The Midlands meander offers so many interesting shops and restaurants - over 100 places to visit. We are located right in the middle of the meader - only 3kms from Michaelhouse.

Beside all these attractions on the meander, Irish Mist Estate has a unique indigenous forest on the estate with walking trails. The forest boasts exotic trees - four species of Yellowwood, a natural spring which feeds the main dam, a number of small game - Duiker and Bushbuck, and extensive bird populations including the Lourie and rare Cape Parrot.

Fountain

  • This unit consists of a separate main room with queen
         size bed, and en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a
         shower and a bath.
  • The bedroom is tastefully decorated with percale linen
         and duck down duvets.
  • The unit has a full kitchen with stove, microwave and
         fridge.
  • The lounge area has a large fireplace and there is also a
         "day bed" for an extra person.

    • Dam View

  • This unit consists of a separate main room with queen
         size bed, and en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a
         shower and a bath.

    • Deluxe

    This unit is for a larger crowd - either for a large family or a group of friends wanting to share. The unit has three bedrooms and sleeps (6) six.

  • The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a en-suite
         shower bathroom.
  • The other two rooms have two single beds in each, and
         there is a full family bathroom with shower and bath.
  • Again, the cottage is tastefully decorated with luxurious
         linen and duvets.
  • The kitchen has a stove, microwave and fridge.
  • This unit also has a large fireplace in the lounge area,
         and a dining area that seats 6.

    Rates apply to all three units:
    Unit 1 (Fountain), 2 (Dam View) & 3 (Deluxe):
    R 330.00 p/adult
    R 220.00 p/scholar
    R 110.00 p/child (age 4 and under) per night

Keep left, follow the road for 500m to D533, turn left along D533 for about 1km. Irish Mist Farm on your left.
