Description

Oribi Cottage is set in the unique village of Fort Nottingham. Guests can experience village life and privileged access to 3,000 acres of village land, which is a haven for numerous species of buck including breeding pairs of the rare Oribi. The land is also home to raptors, secretary birds, jackal, baboons, serval, vultures and is a great birding area. Enjoy a picnic with spectacular views to the Drakensburg, take a short walk or a long hike as the fancy takes you, also ideal for mountain biking.

Oribi Cottage is a converted barn set in the garden of a former officer’s house and offers comfortable accommodation. Open plan lounge with TV, DSTV(bring your own card) log fire for those cosy winter evenings, dining area and fully equiped kitchen. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second two singles, a travel cot is available on request. The bathroom has a ball and claw bath. Bed linen, towels, blankets and radiators are provided for the colder winter months. Covered veranda’s both front and rear with garden furniture and braai facilities.

A continental breakfast is included and left in the cottage.
The village also offers a museum, small craft shop, tea garden and a nature reserve with walking trails through indigenous bush. The secretive samango monkey is often seen in the village.  French spoken

OR for 2 night bookings or longer @ R200 per adult per night B&B 12 years and under:  R100 B&B
Under 2:  no charge

A light breakfast is included in  the price which would consist of cereal, juice, yoghurt, bread for toast, tea, coffee etc
Minimum charge of R540 per cottage per night during peak periods.

Directions

From N3 take Nottingham Road turn off (R103). Take R103 towards Nottingham Road for 8Km. On entering village turn right at sign for Rosetta/Mooi River R103. Pass under Railway bridge. Take first left signposted for Fort Nottingham. Spar will be on your right. Continue for 10km on tar and take a right hand turn signposted for Fort Nottingham.(dirt road after short distance)follow road into village, you will come to a T junction where there is a tree in the middle of the road.
